Professor Felix Ankomah Asante

Professor Felix Ankomah Asante is Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, Innovation and Development at the University of Ghana (UG). An Agricultural Economist by training, his research interest include; development economics relating to poverty and household food security; decentralisation, provision of public goods and services, and health related dynamics. He was the Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research at the College of Humanities UG prior to assuming his current role.

Professor Asante currently leads UG’s research enterprise, which focuses on delivering sustainable, mitigating solutions in the designated research priority areas. The Office of Research, Innovation and Development oversees UG’s research enterprise, and builds multidisciplinary research networks which enable researchers compete and collaborate globally. Under his leadership, ORID has championed a concerted effort to enhance innovation and technology to promote entrepreneurship and economic development; foster strategic alliances with partners in industry, policy advocacy and governance. 

Professor Asante is a member of the Grant Review Committee of the Board of Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) based in Kenya, and a Thematic Resource Person for the Partnership for Economic Policy (PEP). He is a board member of the International Center for Evaluation Development (ICED), Kenya, and president of the Ghana Association of Agricultural Economics, member of the Africa Association of Agricultural Economics, and the Ghana Science Association.
