Dr. Josephine Nsaful is a consultant General Surgeon with special interest in breast cancer. She is also a Senior Lecturer in surgery at the University of Ghana Medical School. Her research focuses on various aspects of breast cancer, particularly its distinctive characteristics in individuals of African origin. Recognizing variations in disease behavior and treatment responses among different populations, her research encompasses quality of life, survival outcomes, metastatic disease, and comprehensive patient and public education on breast cancer.
Dr. Nsaful works at the Breast Unit, Department of Surgery, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. She leads the Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness Group, taking a prominent role in organizing public education and awareness campaigns, specifically targeting adolescents and women's groups. She is a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of West African College of Surgeons and actively participates in professional organizations, including the Breast Society of Ghana and Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons
Dr. Nsaful earned her medical degree from the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS). She is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons, and a Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons.
Dr. Nsaful is also a member of the UGMS newsletter Editorial Committee and a reviewer for the Postgraduate Medical Journal of Ghana and the Ghana Medical Journal. She has received notable honors, including the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation/Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Centre of Northwestern University award and the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland International Bursary award among others.
